Recently, United States Senators Tammy Baldwin and Jerry Morgan introduced S. 2772. Under this bill, veterans and their families are to receive education regarding the proper use of prescribed naloxone rescue kits. In addition, the bill seeks to eliminate copayments from the VA for these kits.
What Are Naloxone Kits?
Naloxone kits are used for a variety of reasons. For one, many individuals and their families use these kits to save a person that has suffered an overdose. Similarly, these kits are prescribed to many veterans who live with chronic pain that has derived from their years of active duty. Many people believe that copayments for these kits should not exist since these kits can be used to reverse the effects of opioid overdoses.
